Peter Moulson QC

Peter is a member of the Criminal team.

As a Junior, Peter was led in a number of high profile cases for the Crown and Defence. Such cases included a range of joint enterprise, homicide, multi-defendant and conspiracy cases. He was Junior Counsel in “no-body-no crime scene” murder cases and those involving allegations of corporate and gross negligence manslaughter

As a leading Junior he prosecuted and defended in large scale multi defendant money laundering and drug trafficking cases. He has led for the Crown in a number of complex cases involving substantial POCA issues and other cases of economic crime

Upon his appointment as QC Peter has been instructed on a regular basis in a range of cases and is regarded as a particular specialist in Firearms and related cases

As a QC, Mr Moulson has been Leading Counsel in the following notable cases:-

April 2011 – multi Defendant, joint enterprise GBH (including fire setting to victims) - R v Newington and Others

May 2011 - multi Defendant, £ multi-million drug trafficking and complex POCA hearing - R v Aristotelous and Others

June 2011 - Mother causing death of child – complex medical causation and family case issues - R v George

July 2011 - Joint Enterprise Murder – R v Beevers and Evans

August 2011 - Joint Enterprise GBH – R v Scott and Others

September 2011 - Murder and Attempted Murder – (abnormality of mental functioning) - R v Scott

October 2011 - Prosecution - Operations Lapworth I and II. 15 Defendant Conspiracy to Import Firearms and with Intent to Endanger life. ( R v Tariq and Others).  Upon the completion of this case, Peter was invited to address the National Ballistics and Intelligence Services (NaBIS) steering group regarding Firearms legislation and prosecutions brought under CEMA and the Firearms Act 1968. Following his presentation to that group, in March 2012 Mr Moulson gave an address to 250 delegates at the joint NaBIS and ACPO conference

November 2011 - Murder – lack of intent, defence of another, loss of self-control - R v Oldroyd

December 2011 - Instructed to Prosecute allegations of Joint Enterprise murder and ancillary offences - R v Sharkey, Spencer and Carey

January 2012 - Murder/Manslaughter - R v Parr

February 2012 - Murder – Abnormality of mind/loss of self-control - R v Blair

March 2012 - Instructed by defence - multiple allegations of historical Rape with complex bad character - R v Hodgson

Peter was Junior of the Circuit in 1996-1997 and is an accredited advocacy trainer. He was involved in the recent CPS grading scheme and was invited by the Circuit Leader to assist those candidates who sought to appeal their grading. He is head of the 35 member Criminal Team at No. 6
